If you are taking a cruise to Alaska during the summer and you're port of call is Juneau, make sure you take time to visit Taku Glacier Lodge.

We took a seaplane to Taku lodge and the views are tremendous. The lodge and environs are a great place to explore, with a (sometimes) waterfall and often a bear. There happened to be both during our visit. The views of Hole in the Wall glacier across the Taku river are also lovely.

A lovely place. It's a must if you are traveling to Alaska, I ate fresh salmon, I stayed 12 meters away from a black bear and people in these place are very kind and helpful.

You get to explore around the lodge as well. But be careful, because there may just be some wildlife that you will love to photograph, but you don't want to meet them in person. I'm talking about the black and grizzly bears that are around. We saw them while we were there and it was a treat.

You get to learn about history of the lodge and the area around it. You're treated to a meal of salmon that is so fresh it is literally just out of the water of a glacier who's ice is older than the oldest country on Earth. It is a fantastic taste and they feed you so well that you should come starving because you will overeat. I guarantee it.

Absolutely beautiful! I'll add that I'm not a fan of fish but ever since trying the grilled, smoked salmon, I've been crazed by the amazing flavor and ate two portions there (and would have eaten more but decided not to be a pig). From the cruise ship to Safeway to Seattle at the Space Needle, the salmon is unmatched anywhere! Outside of the salmon though, the lodge is amazing, the scenery gorgeous and the staff couldn't be more professional, dedicated and entertaining. I'm typically a frugal guy and was concerned about the cost for my family of 5 to go on the seaplane to the lodge (and you spend a lot of time in the air too) but I'll tell you, of all the vacations I've ever taken, this is one outing I'd do again and consider a bargain at that. Highly recommended and this review doesn't do it justice.

I I have been there 2 times and each time it was an unforgettable Journey. You fly in from the port of Juneau on a float plane and land on the glacier Waters.

After dinner, you can take a walk around (1/2 mile or so) with a guide to understand some of the local flora. Naturally, there's a gift shop too, if you want some souvenirs. But the main souvenir will be your memories of the trip.

The dinner is great, although the selection is (naturally) limited: salmon. Well, there's also chicken if you really don't like salmon. The salmon is cooked out an outdoor grill (where the bears like to lick the drippings), and is as fresh as you can get. Along with that comes sourdough bread and herbed biscuits, baked beans and cookies. It's not a gourmet's delight, but it's very good and the trip there is the real attraction.

Even In The Heat Of Summer, it is very cool and pleasant temperatures. This is the kind of place where I would like to come back and actually stay for an extended period of time.

Flight to the lodge was awesome, the salmon, they served was excellent. The view of the glacier from the lodge was spectacular also in the air. The walk around the property, was amazing, I never seen trees with so much Moss growing on them. If I ever get back to Alaska, I will do this trip again❤️
